Moving Insurance Policy Details
Commercial General Liability Insurance — $2,000,000
Our Commercial General Liability policy provides protection against accidental third-party property damage or bodily injury that may occur while our team is performing moving services.
- Accidental damage to walls, flooring, doors, railings, or building common areas.
- Third-party bodily injury resulting from our operations.
- Property damage caused by our employees during the move.
Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, and limits of our insurance policy.
Insurance Options for Your Belongings
In addition to our standard coverage, we offer two levels of protection for your household goods: Basic/Limited Liability and Full-Value Protection. Each has different levels of financial responsibility and cost, giving you the option that suits your move and your budget.
Basic / Limited Liability Coverage
This is the standard level of protection — included automatically unless you choose otherwise.
- Coverage is based on a fixed amount per pound of weight of goods moved (for example, $0.60 per pound) rather than the full replacement value of the items.
- A good choice if the items being moved are of standard value and you are comfortable with minimal additional cost.
- Because coverage is weight-based and not item-value based, it may not fully cover higher-value possessions if loss or damage occurs.
Example: A wooden dresser weighing 150 lbs valued at $1,000 — under Basic Coverage at $0.60/lb, the maximum reimbursement would be $90 (150 lbs × $0.60/lb). This option is suitable for standard furniture and household items where keeping insurance costs minimal is the priority.
Full-Value Protection Coverage
An optional upgrade you may select for higher peace of mind and broader coverage. With this option, 4 You Moving takes responsibility for the declared value of your shipment. If an item is lost, destroyed, or damaged, we will:
- Repair the item;
- Replace it with a similar item of like kind and quality; or
- Provide a cash settlement based on current market value.
Coverage is calculated according to the declared value of your goods, subject to any deductible you select. Ideal for moves with high-value, irreplaceable, or sentimental items where standard coverage may not suffice. Important: High-value items typically must be declared in advance and listed on your inventory for full coverage eligibility. Example: Using the same dresser — under Full-Value Protection, if it is damaged or lost, we will repair it, replace it with a similar model, or compensate you for its current market value. If your total shipment weighs 10,000 lbs, it would be valued at $100,000 total coverage under FVP (at $10/lb). Ask our team for the cost of this coverage.
